Suan Pakkad Palace

Just a few minutes from our hotel, a visit to Suan Pakkad Palace evokes a Bangkok most consider long since vanished. Here, a well-tended tropical garden with serene ponds surrounds eight traditional Thai houses, each of which brims to overflowing with fine arts, antiques and oddities. These houses nestle between the front of the palace and the garden, each transported from its original location in Chiang Mai. The Lacquer Pavilion, tucked away quietly at the back of the tranquil grounds, dates to the 17th Century.
